| BR 13 ton High Goods Wagon |
This design had originated with the L.N.E.R. who had built the first steel bodied opens in 1945. When B.R. adopted the design it first used the complicated L.N.E.R. type brake gear before adopting the simpler 'MORTON' type. This diagram was used for both fitted and unfitted versions and a list of both types is included. Many of the unfitted versions were vacuum fitted later. Some of the fitted vehicles were later converted to SODA ASH traffic by fitting of sheet support rails to the ends and strengthening of the side doors, although some of the conversions appear to have been used for general merchandise traffic as well. If anyone wishes to build a soda ash version with sheet support rail, we can supply the lost wax cast rail as an extra (part Num. M7026). Microstrip as been included to reinforce the door if the later conversion is required. |
