| 7041R | Charles Roberts 7 Plank coal wagon "Old Roundwood Collieries" Wakefield | £22.98 | £27.00 | |
HISTORICAL NOTESThese wagons are based on the Railway Clearing House regulations of 1907. Charles Roberts as a major wagon builder must have had a considerable influence in the drawing up of these regulations. This is evidenced by the fact that the wagon’s being built by Roberts in the 1900’s, on which this kit is based, were virtually indistinguishable from the 1907 design. This wagon was built with side and end door. This 7mm 'O' Gauge kit is based on a order of wagons for Terry Greaves and Company of Wakefield. The wagons were for the Old Roundwood Collieries and were a batch of 25 ordered in 1907.The running numbers for these were 310 – 334, and were registered by the great Northern Railway. These wagons are almost identical to a later order of 100 wagons, which were delivered between 1907 – 1911, the difference being in the last batch of 25 which had ticket racks on the solebars and side door springs.Liveried in red body and solebars, with black ironwork, It was lettered in white with black shading.Old Roundwood Colliery was situated near Flushdyke, on the Wakefield – Dewsbury line. |
